At the start of January 2026, Bravo Target Safety, one of Canada’s leading providers of industrial safety services, partnered with Action for Healthy Communities (AHC) to deliver a specialized Safety Watch Training Program for newcomer clients receiving employment readiness supports at AHC.
From January 5–9, 2026, Bravo Target Safety’s expert trainers transformed our Edmonton office into a hands-on learning environment where training participants gained the essential certifications, knowledge, and real-world experience needed to work in high-risk industrial settings.
Preparing for High-Risk Work Environments
Bravo Target Safety—headquartered in Calgary with operations in Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie—serves vital sectors like oilfield, petrochemical, and energy. Their Safety Watch personnel play a critical role on-site, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, monitoring confined spaces, performing spark and area watch duties, and keeping communication open to prevent workplace incidents.
During the week-long training, eight selected participants engaged in an intensive learning experience that combined classroom instruction with hands-on training simulations. They practiced using safety equipment, conducted hazard assessments, and familiarized themselves with real work scenarios. Participants also earned essential safety certifications such as H2S Alive and Confined Space Entry, key credentials for employment in the industrial sector.

From Training to Employment
We are proud to share that five participants successfully completed the full week of training and have now joined Bravo Target Safety as new team members. Their dedication, focus, and eagerness to learn are a true reflection of the values AHC strives to cultivate through our employment readiness programs.
A Partnership That Creates Opportunity
This initiative showcases the powerful impact of community partnerships. Bravo Target Safety’s team went above and beyond—bringing high-quality instruction directly to highly -motivated newcomer job seekers eager to join the work force in sectors many traditionally have barriers accessing. This employer-led training was highly instrumental in supporting the participants through every step of the onboarding process.
We extend our sincere thanks to Bravo Target Safety for their collaboration and continued commitment to empowering Albertans through job readiness and safety training. Programs like this bridge the gap between skills training and meaningful employment—helping newcomers step confidently into rewarding careers in high-demand industries.
