Alberta’s 2026 Referendum will take place on October 19, 2026. A referendum allows eligible voters to express their views on specific policy questions.

Albertans will be asked to vote on 10 questions related to immigration, constitutional matters, and Alberta’s place in Canada.

 

Who Can Vote?

To vote in the referendum, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be an ordinary resident of Alberta

 

When and Where Can You Vote?

 

Election Day: Monday, October 19, 2026

Polling stations will be open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM You must vote at the polling station assigned to your home address.

 

Advance Voting: October 13–17, 2026

You can vote in advance from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at any advance voting location within your electoral division.

Your Vote Is Private

The referendum uses a secret ballot, meaning your vote is private and confidential. No one can require you to disclose how you voted.
