Activities/EventsAHCAHC Stories

Edmonton’s youth are stepping up and shaping their communities. Through innovative projects, cultural programs, STEM initiatives, and social impact efforts, they’re making meaningful change while developing leadership, teamwork, and real-world skills.

Supported by the Empowering Leadership in Youth through Community Action (ELYCA) program, these young leaders gain mentorship, practical skills, and funding to bring their ideas to life. Over the past three years, ELYCA has supported 49 youth-led initiatives, engaged 170 youth leaders, and invested $145,000 in projects that matter.

Each initiative is designed by youth themselves, reflecting their passions and the issues they care about most. Participants receive hands-on training in project management, budgeting, public speaking, and marketing, along with guidance on sustainability planning and evaluation. The result? Youth who are not only leading projects but also gaining the skills to continue making an impact for years to come.

Below, we celebrate some of the most inspiring initiatives from the 2023–2026 cohorts, organized by theme.
