Share your Culture and Explore the

Business Opportunities it Offers

If tourism is in the business of putting smiles on people’s faces, then Cultural Tourism ensures those smiles are diverse!

The I.M.P.A.C.T Project is a new initiative of Action for Healthy Communities that adds to the building blocks of the Entrepreneur Support Program to give you the skills, tools, and connections to make a success of your Cultural Tourism related business.

Whether your cultural offerings are the sole focus of your business, or simply an idea for a new revenue stream, by adding cultural tourism offerings to your business you can:

  • Add value to your existing revenue.
  • Increase your market share.
  • Increase awareness of your business.

(Just to name a few)

Cultural Tourism is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the tourism industry, and there are many ways we can help you to reach this important market!  Reach out to the IMPACT Program today to gain industry contacts, help with product development, understanding of the Cultural Tourism sector, and more by emailing Tulin at impact@a4hc.ca or 780-238-4933.

Funded by the CARES Grant offered by the Alberta Provincial Government, I.M.P.A.C.T stands for Innovation Models for Promoting Alberta’s Cultural Tourism.  A 3-phase project that aims to: get a better understanding of the Cultural Tourism market; bring together those that support cultural tourism to discover how they can support new and existing entrepreneurs; and provide support to new and existing entrepreneurs through industry connections, product development, identifying target demographics, gain an understanding the Cultural Tourism sector, and more.

  • Phase 1: An Environmental Scan and Analysis of the Cultural Tourism Sector – in partnership with MacEwan University’s School of Business.
  • Phase 2: Create a task force and list of stakeholders that inform and influence the cultural tourism sector to provide input into the above environmental scan, and aid new and existing entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.
  • Phase 3: Help new and existing businesses grow their cultural tourism revenue.

(*Note:  Phases of the project are not linear, and will run consecutively when the need arises).

An off-shoot of the Action for Healthy Communities, Entrepreneur/Business Support Program, I.M.P.A.C.T will be offered primarily in: Edmonton, Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, Cold Lake, and Lac La Biche.

Any entrepreneur with a cultural tourism offering will be supported by the I.M.P.A.C.T project, and will be eligible to take part in the Entrepreneur Support Program at no cost (Fall and Spring intakes), with additional supports available to those who are newcomers to Canada, including: language supports, adult education classes, and settlement aid, and a primary focus on those businesses aligned with food, arts/crafts, clothing and design, and home décor.
