Volunteer Now
Maintaining a strong team of volunteers is at the core of keeping AHC in the forefront of the non profit and charitable organizations world. It involves activities such as volunteer information and training sessions, volunteer appreciation, and volunteer recruitment and management.
"Volunteers are individuals who reach out beyond the confines of their paid employment and of their normal responsibilities to contribute time and service to a not-for-profit cause in the belief that their activity is beneficial to others as well as satisfying to themselves".
Quoted from Taking Volunteerism into the 21st Century, American Red Cross
Volunteer Information and Training Sessions
AHC holds biweekly volunteer information and training sessions. These sessions inform volunteers of current community an organizational needs as well as the expectations and code of conduct of people that volunteer their time for the well being of the community. Training is also offered for volunteer professional development, knowledge that can be transferable to job setting.
Volunteer Appreciation
Every year, AHC runs two special events to thank and recognize the invaluable work that its volunteers do to support the AHC programs. These events are opportunities for guests to learn about what volunteers do and get them motivated to do the same.
"Courage is contagious. When a brave person takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened."
Billy Graham
Volunteer Recruitment and Management
Information sessions are the final chain of a recruitment process. Most of AHC volunteers get motivated through word of mouth and website. Interested individuals are invited to an interview and if chosen, to fill up some forms. The information sessions help them to make a decision about their area of volunteerism. Once a volunteer is place in a specific program or project they become a member of the team.
