Action for Healthy Communities (AHC) is a non-profit community development organization working in Greater Edmonton.  Our programs strengthen the capacity of individuals to organized and create initiatives that contribute to improved community health and well-being.  Through community capacity building, leadership training, and mentorship, we promote community inclusion as a strategy for increasing citizenship participation and action. Terms:                    August 2009 - January 2010 (6-10 hrs/month)
Compensation:        According to education and experience

Are you passionate about working with others to create a neighborhood full of positive change for yourself, your family, and community?

Do you have skills and experience motivating others in community projects to improve your neighborhood?

Do you have broad, solid connections to one of Alberta Avenue, Norwood, Cromdale, Parkdale, McCauley, Spruce Avenue, Eastwood, Boyle Street, Central McDougall or the Queen Mary Park neighborhood?

Then, your community needs you and AHC can help you learn new ways to build stronger communities, expand your peer network and work better with local new-immigrant/ visible minority communities.

As a Community Animator (CA) or Community Development Promoter (CDP) you will help to create a neighborhood team that will, with the teams of the other 9 CA and CDP, organize the 2010 AHC Voices From Our Neighborhood Forum.  At the forum your team and community leaders will:
share with municipal, provincial and federal decision-makers and representatives of community development organizations, the success of their ongoing community building activities within the neighborhoods
share a vision of what residents want to do to improve their neighborhoods over the next 5 years
help the team to  remain, working for a common goal: building the neighborhood they want.
