Community Action Dash Route
May 24th 2009
The Community Action Dash
winds through one of Edmonton’s oldest areas,
including
McCauley,
Alberta Avenue,
and
Parkdale
communities. McCauley is the home of Edmonton’s
first mayor,
Matthew McCauley.
The course begins and ends in
Giovanni Caboto
Park in the heart of our Little Italy. Named
after the famous Italian explorer to
discover Canada, this park features a replica of
the fountain found in the central piazza of
Ortolan, Italy, his home. The park is home to
Giovanni Caboto Day.
A block west of the race course is a
part of Canada in the
Guinness Book of records
– it has more churches per area than any-where
else on earth. Cool off after the race by
walking north and south on 96th
Street.
A bit west of there, on 97th
Street, is
Chinatown,
centre of one of Edmonton's oldest communities.
Join us for the race, but spend the
rest of the day poking around the shops and
communities of Edmonton's historic centre.
You'll be richly rewarded for your
effort.
IMPORTANT: We are
looking for 30 volunteers for event. We have
various volunteer positions available that day
and we're always glad to see you. Please
